In Malawi, there were 47 new cholera cases last week, compared to 56 cases the previous week. All of the new cases were registered in Chikwawa (39) and Nsanje (8) districts, with no new cases in Blantyre district last week. However, with two new deaths (1 in Blantyre and 1 in Chikwawa), the case fatality rate has increased to 1.6. In Mozambique there were 97 new cholera cases last week, significantly down from 292 the previous week. No new cases were reported in Zimbabwe or Tanzania.
Tanzania
Tanzania experienced a surge in new arrivals with over the past week. Reportedly numbers may have crossed the 25,000 mark over the weekend.
